Andrew Garfield is always having necessary conversations.
The We Live in Time actor reflected on how Jessica Chastain made it possible for him to be with his mother before she passed away, and it's a moving story.
Andrew's mother, Lynn Garfield, passed away in 2019 from pancreatic cancer, and he's been very open about his emotions and experiences surrounding her passing.
In an interview with People, Andrew talked about how Jessica moved around the schedule while filming their movie so he could be with his mom for several days.
Andrew and Jessica were in 2021's The Eyes of Tammy Faye, about the rise and fall of the evangelist Tammy Faye Messner.
"What was amazing was that [Searchlight Pictures' David Greenbaum] and Jessica rearranged the schedule last-minute — put filming on hold [in North Carolina] for a few days so that I could go back [to England] and be with my mom for 10 days," Andrew said.
Speaking of Jessica and his time on filming, Andrew said, "We would have deep conversations because we were both getting to know each other as people. I'm really very grateful for that time with her because it was the time when my mum was really sick and ultimately passed away."
Jessica wasn't the only one who was very considerate of this time for Andrew. His costar, Vincent D'Onofrio, shared a moment with him as well.
Andrew always reminds us of the importance of grief and compassion for others at the right moment. In a 2021 interview with Variety, The Amazing Spider-Man star said, "The good news about me and [my mother] is that we left nothing unsaid."
"We had all the quality time we could possibly have while she was here. And those last two weeks I got to be with her were probably the most profound two weeks of my life," he continued. “To be with her and my dad and my brother, all of her friends, my nephews. It was full of grace in the midst of the terrible tragedy.”
